Personality: A good way to describe Jet would be cool as a cucumber. He's the awesome old uncle that everyone is fond of in their own way. No matter what happens, he's always calm and collected and will work through it without losing his cool. Jet's very sure of his own strength, and is sure that no matter what happens, he'll be able to push through things without any trouble. It's very hard to get under his skin, especially since he's prone to laughing in your face if you try to rile him up. He's very hard to bother. He has a bit of an ego, but it doesn't tend to show a lot.

Now and then he does act like an old man, and being that he's by far the oldest Pokemon he's ever met, he has a right to it a lot. As the oldest of Vee's team, he looks out for them all, and doesn't cause trouble all that much. He's much more likely to go and nap in the sun than kick up any kind of fuss. He likes the good things in life, and doesn't like causing trouble for other people unless they've deserved it.

That doesn't mean he doesn't have a mischievous streak though! Now and then he'll act like the young Vaporeon he used to be, sneakily firing a jet of water at one of the others from a few feet away or dumping an entire wave on the group if they need to cool off. However his childish side is much tamer compared to the others in the team. Overall, he's just the cool Team Dad who can sometimes intimidate with his strength, but overall is pretty cool and a secret softy inside for the younger ones.

He does have a temper, when you finally manage to get under his skin and light his very long fuse. At which point he will lose all sense of reason and proceed to do his best to beat the hell out of you. It will take a great deal of persuasion to talk him out of this state, and once you have been a victim of it, he will never, ever trust you again. Jet does not believe in giving people second chances when they have proven themselves willing to annoy him to the point of overload.

Vivian is his trainer, and he adores her with all his heart. She was the only one to believe in him and his strength, and work with him to achieve his full potential. Jet would do anything for her, and will never allow her to come to harm. Hurting her is the fastest way to get on the Vaporeon's bad side. She is the only human that he trusts fully and completely.

Of the team, Coco is the love of his life. The Espeon is a sweetheart, and he adores that she always has time for everyone. They've had several children between them, and while most of the young ones are her and Flare's now, Jet has never begrudged her for it. The Flareon is his polar opposite in typing, but the big quiet Pokemon is one of his best friends. Together they are the powerhouses of the team, and together they keep all the others safe. They have each other's backs, and will fight together to the end to protect what they care for.

Bindi and Arctic are two of the team Jet doesn't have much to do with. Arctic is a bully and enjoys pushing everyone around, and Jet has no time for the Glaceon's stupidity. Bindi is a prankster, and often Jet is the focus of her pranks. To the Leafeon's irritation, he often ignores them, and will step in if her pranks go too far. Jet is one of the only two of the team Bindi fears, and he knows it.

Klutz is Jet's son, and he cares a lot for the Jolteon. He knows he sometimes intimidates Klutz, since he is strong, focused and easily beats all around him, while Klutz can barely get off an attack that will hit, missing 99% of the time. But Jet believes in him, and does his best to help the youngster get on his feet and find his rhythm. Eclipse is also only young and finding her way in the world. While a little snooty, Jet knows she has a good heart, and watches over her while seeming distant. He knows she needs space to grow but at the same time he makes sure none of the Umbreon's ideas get her into trouble.

Jet often gets on well with other Pokemon, provided they don't try to rough him up. Humans he tends to stay distant from, willing to deal with them but not willing to trust them until they've proven themselves to him. Younger ones though have a better chance of getting around his barriers. He admires those who will admit their faults and work on them. Those with egos though just amuse him and he tends to entertain himself at times putting puncture holes in those egos, unless they're really and truly deserved.

Backstory: As an Eevee, the not-yet-nicknamed Pokemon was always a bitter, sulky little thing. The runt of his litter, and born to two Eeveelutions belonging to a breeder, no one wanted him from the start. He watched as his brothers and sisters were always wanted by the trainers that came to adopt them, and felt pushed aside. It angered him, since he felt he was just as strong as the others. Desperate to evolve and become stronger, he was always trying to get into the breeder's stack of evolution stones, wanting to find a Water Stone that would evolve him into a Vaporeon.

Finally, sick of having to constantly watch the little trouble maker, the breeder gave the unwanted Eevee to her eight-year-old daughter. Eevee sulked for days, as his new owner watched him constantly. Vivian was her name, and she adored the tiny Pokemon from the start. Eevee was her first Pokemon, and she did her best to raise him even while he was unhappy from being given away, feeling unwanted and alone.

But something about Vivian, or Vee as her friends called her, changed him. Her constant dedication to helping him be the best he could be, the constant attention and help when he needed her, and the promise that as soon as she could, she would help him evolve...something touched his heart, and he began to feel the need to get stronger not just for himself, but to make her proud. On Vee's tenth birthday, her parents gifted her a Water Stone. Showing it to Eevee, she smiled and nodded, and he smiled too, touching it with his nose. He evolved, and gained a new name in the process. He was now Jet, a Vaporeon who was determined to be the strongest he could be.

They lived in Hoenn, and a year later, Vee and Jet went on a journey, determined to beat all the Gym Leaders they could together, Jet learning and growing stronger all the time. Many of the Gyms fell easily to his powerful Water-type moves, but those that resisted his attacks took longer to beat. Together though, Jet knew he and his trainer could do anything. Defeat meant nothing, all they had to do was work harder! And eventually over two years, all eight of Hoenn's gym badges belonged to Vee, and Jet was a powerhouse that was difficult to take down. But Vee had discovered something along the way. Battling was fun, but she had no real passion for it. The fights and determination to be the best wasn't in her; no, she had battled because she had adored seeing how Jet had grown and changed.

While the Vaporeon himself was saddened at not having a chance to travel Victory Road and take on the Elite Four, he respected and loved his trainer. He understood that she didn't want that life. So instead they returned home, where Vee gained another Eevee from her parents. A female one this time, that was quick to fall in love with both Vee and Jet. When Vee turned fifteen, Coco the Eevee evolved, transforming into an Espeon. Vee adored both her and Jet, and Jet adored Coco like no other. He would do anything to protect her, and her presence and love for him kept him strong, while also removing the last of the anger from his childhood. Jet had turned into the Vaporeon he was today.

Years passed, and Vee travelled to the other lands of the world, visiting Kanto, Johto and Sinnoh, and gaining more Eeveelutions along the way. One was Jet and Coco's son, a young Jolteon fondly nicknamed Klutz, for his habit of being the worst klutz anyone had ever seen. A sickly Eevee that Vee helped nurse to health and evolved into the biggest Flareon she had ever seen, Flare was another that joined them, vying a little with Jet for Coco's affection. The two clashed for awhile, before Coco showed them that she could love them both. Three others followed; a prankster Leafeon called Bindi who loved to rile the others up, a bad-tempered Glaceon named Arctic that Vee couldn't allow other trainers to adopt because of his dislike for everyone, and the most unusual of all, a shiny Umbreon named Eclipse, daughter of Coco and Flare, who was Vee's special baby. Vivian loved them all though, and Jet would always keep a special place in her heart, and she in his.

Eventually, as the years went on, Vee settled back in her home region of Hoenn. While she was content to stay and live her life there, helping take care of the Eevees her mother bred and taking up the family tradition, she encourage her own Pokemon to explore if they wanted, and have their own adventures. Jet was old, but not too old. The wanderlust had never left him, having enjoyed all the adventures they had had. So one day he said goodbye to his dear friend and beloved trainer, and set out on his own journey, to see what could be seen, and to swim wherever he could.

And that was how he came across the academy, hearing of a school where anyone of any kind could join, and going to see what it was like. He got lost in a forest on the way, but eventually he got through and came across the most unusual sight of Smash Academy.

-- As a Vaporeon, Jet has a unique control over water, to the point where he himself can turn into water and disappear in it, due to his cellular structure being nearly identical to water's. He can also predict when it's going to rain.

[Step one to saying hi to the academy – locate waterproof computer. Step two? Locate the pool.

Hey ladies and gents, have a Vaporeon that's half lazing in the pool, front half resting on the tiles and turning the video on, typing instead of talking since lulz, Pokespeak. For anyone familiar with Pokemon, he seems pretty old]

So this is the school I've heard so much about. Pretty fancy, what with all the world gathering and having the ability to turn Pokemon into humans. My trainer would've been fascinated by it, if she travelled still. I have a feeling she'll miss having seen me as a human.

[The Pokemon lets out an amused laugh at that]

Anyway. You all can call me Jet. Headmaster says I'm to be your new swimming instructor. So you should all come on down and jump on in sometime. The water is great. And don't worry, I'll be in human form for lessons. Wouldn't be much of a teacher if none of you could understand me now, would I?

In-Character 3rd person sample:
Man humans were strange creatures. All two legs and no tails. Jet wondered how on earth they managed to balance themselves properly. Walking was difficult like this, but at least he had his tail still. That made balancing himself out a little easier.

Tired of trying to walk around, he carefully sat down on the edge of the pool, letting his feet and lower legs dangle in the water. The cooling sensation was calming, even in this form. Jet was glad that being human hadn't changed his liking for it. He wondered whether or not he could swim properly like this...

He glanced at his hands. Almost invisible, the webbing between his fingers caught the light as he stretched his hand out. It was between his toes as well, but Jet had a feeling that the hands would be more important here. Curiosity won out and he slipped into the water, ducking under. Gills kicked in, another thing he was glad of, although the hair was now a bother, floating around him like that. Give him the short fur of his normal form any day.

Jet struck out, ungainly body nowhere near as smooth as he was normally in the water. The webbing on his hands and feet were helping though, kicking his legs and keeping himself moving. He copied the arm strokes he'd seen other humans make before, and was interested to see that they did help him power through the water. Once he got used to this, he felt he'd be able to get going pretty fast. That was good, he wouldn't take having to be slower in this form.

The Vaporeon-turned-human slowed to a stop, watching the water and focusing for a moment. Could he still use his moves like this? Hm...Ice Beam and Toxic would be a bad idea, but maybe Surf...

A few seconds later and he let out a whoop, body surfing the wave down the length of the pool and feeling young again. Okay, that was a lot of fun. He changed back into a Vaporeon and melted into the water before he could crash headlong into the side of the pool, grinning as he reformed and surfaced. That had been fun. He needed to try that at the lake sometime. Who said you couldn't teach an old Vaporeon new tricks?
